Challenges and horizons of digital sociology
An analysis of scientific production in brazil and the world

This article presents a critical overview of Digital Sociology, analyzing its global and Brazilian trajectories through a literature review. It discusses the field’s genesis, its theoretical-methodological challenges, and central themes in Brazil, such as the political sphere, inequalities, and the area’s institutionalization. The dialogue with Digital Humanities and the importance of public engagement are also explored. Finally, a future research agenda is outlined, reinforcing the field’s centrality for building a more just and democratic digital future.
