Abstract

In the article “The Brazilianization of the World”, Alex Hochuli argues that features once seen as typical of Brazil – such as extreme inequality, informality, institutional distrust, and spectacle-driven politics – are becoming global. He points out that neoliberalism has weakened the state and intensified precarity, creating an unstable social model. The crisis of liberal democracies, the rise of populism, and the erosion of social protections exemplify this “Brazilianization.” The article suggests that Brazil, far from being an exception, anticipated a new global pattern of disorder and inequality.
